Overview

Geo Extension is a lightweight Frappe app that improves how users input and manage address data.
It extends the standard Address doctype by turning its address fields into cascading, country-aware selectors: each field only offers the divisions that belong to the selection above it, and the postal code is filled in automatically when it can be determined reliably. This drastically reduces data entry errors and speeds up the process.

Instead of typing states, cities and districts manually, users select from real administrative divisions powered by preloaded geographic datasets from official statistics offices and GeoNames.

No changes to your DocType. The native Address fields stay plain text: unknown values are still accepted, auto-filled values can be edited, and the form always works as it does in stock Frappe. The same experience is available in quick-entry dialogs (including ERPNext Customer and Supplier quick entry) and in the portal Address web form. A read-only API lets other apps reuse the geographic data.

Works with Frappe Framework v15 and v16, with or without ERPNext.

Usage

1. Open any form containing an Address (e.g., Customer, Supplier, or Delivery Note) or the Address quick entry.

2. Select a Country — the address fields below are reordered and relabelled to match that country's hierarchy (e.g., Province, Bundesland, Barangay).

3. Start typing in the top-level field (State/Province) to see suggestions; aliases and common spellings are recognised.

4. Once you select it, the City field lists only the cities of that selection, and so on down to the lowest level.

5. The Postal Code is filled automatically when exactly one code applies; several codes are offered as suggestions. A code you type is never overwritten.

6. Save the record. Anything you typed that is not in the dataset is kept as is.
